WildEdit

When you are dealing with a lot of text files, it's very difficult to search a certain word or phrase inside of them. You would have to open each of them and use the search function of a text editor. Things get even more complicated when it comes to replacing certain pieces of text inside a document. It's a lengthy and difficult process. Fortunately, there is an efficient solution to this and that's the program WildEdit. It's a software that can easily find and replace text in more files at once.

WildEdit installs very quickly and can run on most versions of Microsoft Windows. It takes up little hard disk space and it requires low system resources.

The interface is no eye candy, but it seems very functional and easy to use, as all the options are in the right place. The user can search for a certain word or phrase using different criteria, like regular expressions or matching whole words. A found word can be easily replaced with another one.

WildEdit features a lot of options for the searching and the replacing process. It supports a wide range of text formats but, unfortunately, it doesn't support doc files. A log file is displayed in the lower part of the interface, pointing out the actions that were performed by the program.
